3D Printing Markets Surpasses $4B for First Time Ever in Q3 2025; AM Research Publishes Quarterly Market Data and Market Insights Report

New York, NY: Additive Manufacturing Research (AM Research) has published its "Q3 2025 3DP/AM Market Data and Forecast" for both the Metal AM and Polymer AM markets, along with its "Q3 2025 3DP/AM Market Insights" report which distills and analyzes the data. AM Research's quarterly 3DP/AM market data product represents the most thorough and accurate data available worldwide, tracking markets by vendor, print technology, geography, and application (industry).

The data for Q3 2025 shows that, for the first time ever, the primary AM market as defined by AM Research has just passed the $4.0B mark for a single quarter. Year over year, the total market (consisting of Metal, Polymer and Ceramic 3D printers, materials, and services) growth of 12% accelerates a trend from the prior three quarters that has seen the AM market starting to enter a new period of growth, despite ongoing challenges. Sequential total market size grew from $3.89B in Q2 2025 to $4.01B in Q3 2025.

The Metal AM market totaled $1.59B in Q3 2025, versus $1.39B a year ago in Q3 2024.

The Polymer AM market totaled $2.42B in Q3 2025, versus $2.19B a year ago in Q3 2024.

The combined AM Services market totaled $2.15B in Q3 2025, versus $1.93B a year ago in Q3 2024.

Exclusive insight, commentary and data cuts can be found in the AM Research report also published today, "3DP/AM Market Insights: Q3 2025". AM Research EVP Scott Dunham states,

"Real momentum is building in the AM industry in Q3 2025. Although the growth rate is accelerating, it obviously has not been enough over the past four years to sustain the myriad of corporate interests and ventures in AM, to say nothing of profitability. We are seeing some re-capitalization trends and growth is happening in some cases outside the usual places. A number of companies have timed the market very well, leveraging the ability to develop and deploy innovative AM solutions that have been able to leapfrog the legacy AM markets. These companies are going to have a lot of possibilities open to them in the next few years."

Companies included in AMR's Core Metals and Core Polymers tracking data and 3DP/AM Market Insights report include but are not limited to: 3D Systems, Stratasys, Nano Dimension Markforged, Desktop Metal, Velo3D, Nikon SLM Solutions, EOS, Colibrium (GE Additive), BLT, Eplus, FastForm, Apple, Optomec, BeAM, HP, Protolabs, Renishaw, HP Inc., Sodick, Cobra/PUMA Golf, Trumpf, Creality, Divergent, Farsoon, AnkerMake (EufyMake), SprintRay, EnvisionTEC, Ackuretta, Pac-Dent, Bambu Lab, Kickstarter, Arc Impact, Divergent, Shenzhen JLC, more.

From the '3DP/AM Market Insights: Q3 2025' Report

  • China's growth in the 3DP/AM market over the last three years is notable, and a constant source of debate by stakeholders around the world. China's growth as a major hub of 3DP/AM contract manufacturing has led to a growing base of very fast scaling AM end-users. AM Research identifies one Western based company with established infrastructure and business capital, well positioned to capitalize on the overall Chinese AM end-user market.
  • A market opportunity which may be in the early stages of a "long play" is sporting goods for 3DP/AM. In particular, where AM has developed early R&D applications in major sports, there is a growing trend of new champions in these areas leveraging 3D printed products or equipment of some kind. From the world of golf to cycling, metal AM in the sports industry continues laying revolutionary groundwork for what may eventually become one of the leading areas for AM production.
  • Q3 2025 saw continuation of trends towards 3DP/AM hardware in professional and production environments rapidly moving down-market to less expensive machines. This trend has been highlighted in recent market reports in material extrusion, but now laser powder bed fusion for metal AM may be picking up speed. There are huge downstream ramifications to lower cost printers becoming production powerhouses.
